Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) on Monday announced beginning the commercial operations of methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomer and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) plants.
The step came after finalising the pilot operation of the two facilities, according to a statement to the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul).
SABIC, the Kingdom’s largest petrochemicals producer, noted that the financial impact of the plants will be reflected in 2018 second-quarter profits.
In April 2017, the Tadawul-listed company said that output capacity of MMA and PMMA would be 250,000 and 40,000 tonnes per year, respectively.
SABIC did not give further details on the projects' cost.
By the end of Sunday’s session, SABIC’s stock declined 0.41% at SAR 115.93.
