Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) has completed procedures for this year’s seventh tender and imported 730,000 tonnes of barley from the origins of the European Union, Australia, the Black Sea, South and North America, excluding Canada.
Governor of SAGO, Ahmad A. Al-Fares, said 25 qualified global companies specialised in grains trade were invited to the tender, of which 16 competed to supply the amount to be imported and 3 global companies offered the lowest rates of shipments and were selected, according to a statement on Monday.
The barley will be delivered to the GCC state during January and February 2021.
With this tender, SAGO has contracted to import 5.8 million tonnes of barley this year.
