SAGO receives first wheat shipment from Saudi investments overseas

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) on Monday said Jeddah Islamic Port received a vessel carrying 60,000 tonnes of Ukraine wheat, marking its first shipment produced by the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC).

Governor of SAGO, Ahmad Al Fares, said the delivery is in line with the kingdom’s approach to benefit from Saudi agricultural investments overseas while linking them with local market needs, according to a statement on Monday.

The shipment also comes within the framework of the programme for agricultural investments abroad, which is one of the kingdom’s food security strategy programmes and aims to diversify and stabilise foreign food supply sources.

The state grain buyer is keen on diversifying its sources for wheat imports through the international tenders offers, Al Fares added.
