Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) has issued an international tender to purchase 735,000 tonnes of hard wheat for 2017.

The quantity of the hard wheat will be of European, North and South American, and Australian origins, according to a statement issued on the organisation’s website.

The first shipment for this year will arrive between May and July, and will be distributed on Jeddah Islamic Port (480,000 tonnes), and King Abdul Aziz Port (255,000 tonnes), Ahmed Al-Fares, governor of SAGO, said.

Fares added that 22 specialised global companies were invited to compete on the offered quantity.

The tender aims to cover the domestic demand and preserve wheat strategic inventories, the governor stated.
