SAMA assets retreat in July on deposits with banks abroad

Riyadh – Mubasher: The assets of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) retreated in July on monthly and annual bases at the same time but for different reasons.

The assets decreased on a monthly basis, weighted by deposits with banks abroad which declined 6.23%, according to latest report by SAMA.

On an annual basis, deposits with banks abroad fell 4.96%, but SAMA declines were mainly on the back of investment in foreign securities which dropped 20.45% and the fund's cash which decreased 3%, where other various assets rose 12.4%.

The monetary agency's assets recorded its lowest level in five years, precisely since March 2012, in which they reached SAR 2.154 trillion ($574.4 billion), according to statistics by Mubasher.
