SAMA's assets drop to 49-month low in April

Riyadh – Mubasher: Assets owned by the Saudi Monetary Agency (SAMA) dropped 15.2% year-on-year to SAR 2.22 trillion by the end of April 2016, its lowest level in 49 months or since April 2012 when it reached SAR 2.19 trillion.

Assets recorded in April 2015 stood at SAR 2.62 trillion. On the other hand, SAMA's assets were down 1.06% month-on-month from SAR 2.45 trillion in March this year.

SAMA's asset decline was attributed to retreating investments in foreign securities by 26% year-on-year to SAR 1.45 trillion (around 65% of total assets) compared to SAR 1.96 trillion in April of last year.
