Riyadh – Mubasher: Banking deposits inched up 0.13% year-on-year in December 2017, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) said in a report.
Total deposits amounted to SAR 1.619 trillion during December 2017, compared to SAR 1.617 trillion in the same period a year earlier, the report added.
Demand deposits increased 2.7% to SAR 1 trillion in December 2017, up from SAR 974.09 billion in the same month the year before.
Banking credit (loans) decreased 1% to SAR 1.386 trillion during December 2017, compared to SAR 1.4 trillion in the prior-year period.
Banking deposits rose 1.2% to SAR 1.619 trillion in December 2017, from SAR 1.599 trillion in November 2017.
On a monthly basis, demand deposits edged up 0.2% to SAR 1 trillion during December 2017, compared to SAR 998.34 billion.
