Riyadh- Mubasher: The Saudi Railway Company (SAR) has invited international companies to invest in the so-called Saudi Landbridge project, a large number of domestic and overseas companies showed interest in the railway project which is slated to be launched in 2018, Okaz newspaper reported on Sunday, citing CEO Bashar Al Malik as saying.
He added the project is still under study, citing that the private sector will take part in such megaprojects.
The new project will be allocated to goods, as it will reduce distances to Jeddah Islamic Port by transporting goods by train through the landbridge, SAR CEO noted.
The study of the project will be completed soon to be sent to the Saudi Public Transport Authority for approval, Malik said.
