SFDA rejects to increase medicine prices

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) turned down requests from some pharmaceutical firms to raise prices of some medicines, Saudi Al Watan newspaper reported, citing sources as saying.

In some cases, SFDA approved slight price hikes of some drugs to maintain profit margins for companies after submitting the requested studies and documents, the sources added.

Basic price ​bulletin that was issued by SFDA based on 30 nations’ fixed and official references, said the chairman of pharmaceutical companies’ in Riyadh Chamber Mohammed Albahlal.

The consumer must not trust the medicines bought online as they are not under the supervision of regulatory authorities, Albahlal concluded.
