SICO launches Egypt’s 1st smartphone

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian company SICO Technology has launched the first domestically-manufactured smartphone in partnership with the Chinese Megan Group.

Different models of mobile phones will be sold at prices starting from EGP 200 to above EGP 1000 for the 4G smartphones, SICO's chairman Mohamed Al-Sayed Salem highlighted in an interview on ON E’s Kol Youm.

The company is planning to export SICO smartphones to the African countries and the GCC states, Salem noted.

SICO’s initial investments stood at EGP 400 million, he said, forecasting to rise above EGP 1 billion within three years.

On 3 December, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated an electronics factory in Assiut Technology Park, which produces Egypt’s first smartphone.
