Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian company SICO Technology is expected to launch the first smartphone under the slogan of “Made in Egypt” within two months in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, and Oman SICO's chairman Mohamed Salem told al-Arabiya.net.
The company is planning to pump around 50,000 units of mobile phones into the Egyptian market, including 30,000 smartphones and 20,000 regular cell phones, Salem highlighted.
SICO will compete powerfully in the GCC markets, he said, pointing out that the company will offer lower prices than the prices offered in the Arab and Egyptian markets.
Salem had previously said that different models of SICO’s mobile phones will be sold at prices starting from EGP 200 to above EGP 1000 for the 4G smartphones.
Earlier this December, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated an electronics factory in Assiut Technology Park, which produces Egypt’s first smartphone.
