Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Cisco Systems to develop the networks of fifth generation (5G) across the kingdom in an effort to keep pace with Saudi Vision 2030 Vision and National Transformation Plan 2020.
The deal was signed on the sidelines of the 2018 Mobile World Congress (MWC) which officially kicked off in Barcelona, Spain, on Monday, 26 February.
Cisco plans to upgrade STC’s network to enable the Saudi telecommunications provider to provide advanced 5G network services.
“We look forward to working closely with Cisco to develop a future-ready network that delivers advanced capabilities to help us address increasing customer demands and new service trends,” STC CEO Nasser Al-Nasser said.
“Our collaboration with STC will enable their network infrastructure to evolve into the new era of digitisation by taking advantage of the 5G momentum,” Cisco Middle East and Africa’s managing director and global service provider sales Ali Amer said.
