Sadara Chemical unit opens isocyanates plant

Riyadh – Mubasher: Sadara Basic Services Company, the indirectly wholly-owned subsidiary by Sadara Chemical Company (Sadara), on Sunday announced starting operations at isocyanates plants that will produce commercial quantities of toluene di isocyanate (TDI).

Sadara’s TDI plant, which commenced operations on Saturday, consists of three units producing TDI, di nitro toluene (DNT), and toluene di amine (TDA), according to a statement to the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul).

“TDI is widely used in the production of furniture, mattresses and cushioning, as well as car seats,” Sadara revealed.

“It also has a variety of industrial uses and is used in the production of coatings, adhesives, sealants, specialty foams and other industrial products,” according to the statement.

The impact of operating the plant is expected to appear in Sadara’s financial results for the fourth quarter of 2017.
