Sapura Energy’s unit joins Aramco’s LTA scheme

Riyadh – Mubasher: Malaysia-based Sapura Energy has stated that one of its subsidiaries has recently joined Saudi Aramco’s Long-Term Agreement (LTA) programme.

Aramco’s LTA programme is a scheme that was designed to boost the company’s oil and gas offshore projects.

Sapura Saudi Arabia and Sapura Fabrication Sdn Bhd, which are the two wholly owned units of Sapura Energy, said they joined “the major league of international service providers as an LTA contractor,” according to a statement.

Under the agreement, the Malaysian firm noted that it will take a role in bids for engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contracts by Aramco.

“This win is a major milestone for Sapura Energy in line with our strategy to grow the business and deepen our presence in the Middle East,” Sapura’s chief indicated.

The deal was signed on 26 November on the sidelines of an event in the Saudi city of Dammam with the attendance of Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin, president, and group chief executive officer at Sapura Energy.

Commenting on the deal, Shamsuddin said that, “we are honoured to be selected by Saudi Aramco for its LTA programme. This win is a major milestone for Sapura Energy in line with our strategy to grow the business and deepen our presence in the Middle East.”

It is worth noting that the world's largest oil producer announced it had selected Dutch marine contractor Royal Boskalis Westminster to also join the LTA contract scheme under a consortium with UAE-based company Lamprell.
