The project of linking electricity grids in Saudi Arabia and Egypt is scheduled for completion by early 2018, said Egypt's undersecretary of electricity minister Khaled Eldastawy.
The project, the first of its kind in the region, will have several major economic benefits, he stressed.
The official also added that the project will enable the exchange of capacities of up to 3,000 megawatt, which will help resolve Egypt's electricity crisis.
