Saudi Arabia, UAE shrink investments in US bonds

Dubai – Mubasher: The US Treasury Department’s data showed a decline of the UAE-owned US bonds by 7.14% in August to $55.9 billion, as compared to $59.9 billion in July.

Moreover, Saudi investments in US bonds fell last month by 3.22% to $137.9 billion, versus $142.5 billion in July.

The Treasury Department statements include the Saudi investment in the treasury bills and bonds only, without other Saudi private or public investments in the US.

Moreover, the Chinese investments in US bonds hiked by $34.5 billion to $1,200.5 billion in August, while Japanese investments dropped to $1,101.7 billion, after selling $11.4 billion worth of US treasury bills.
