Saudi Arabia OKs issuing 24-hour tourism visa for foreigners

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s Council of Ministers has greenlighted the issue of new electronic visas within 24 hours for foreign visitors who will attend business attractions, concerts, and sport events, Arab News reported.

The state-owned General Entertainment Authority (GEA), General Investment Authority, and General Sports Authority, which are organising events for business, culture, and sports, will provide the authorities with details of upcoming events two months ahead of time, the Saudi-based newspaper added.

The move is part of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to diversify economy resources by investing in various industries, especially the recreation sector.

The kingdom has recently started pumping liquidity in different entertainment and sport events in a bid to attract billions of dollars.

By 2030, Saudi Arabia is planning to inject about SAR 240 billion in the recreation sector, according to the GEA’s chairman Turki Al-Sheikh.
