Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia advanced by nine places on the Human Capital Index for 2018, according to the World Bank.
The kingdom now ranks 73rd globally, up from its 82nd place in 2017, the Human Capital Report for 2018 showed.
Among its Arab peers, Saudi Arabia ranked fifth, while Bahrain ranked first and 47th globally, and the UAE ranked second in the Arab world and 49th globally.
Oman and Qatar ranked third and fourth, respectively among Arab countries, according to the report.
The Human Capital Index ranks countries as part four main standards, namely the development of human capital, knowledge sharing and how skills are applied at work, development, which entails developing current workforce skills, and finally the knowledge standard, which measure the extent and depth of utilised skills.
“Countries can use [the Human Capital Index] to assess how much income they are foregoing because of human capital gaps, and how much faster they can turn these losses into gains if they act now,” the World Bank says via its website.
