Riyadh - Mubasher: The daily number of coronavirus (COVID-19) tests conducted in Saudi Arabia has been doubled to a current 45,000 tests per day, compared to about 1,000 per day across the kingdom when the virus first appeared.
To date, more than 1.5 million polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were conducted in the kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.
Moreover, the Ministry of Health continues to increase the number of laboratory tests through numerous effective measurements that helped in the early detection of infected patients, including expanded screening carried out by the ministry’s field teams.
The mass testing was instrumental in recording more infections and contributed to effectively contain the spread of the virus.
Saudi Arabia has recorded 178,504 COVID-19 cases, along with 122,128 recoveries and 1,511 death cases.
