Saudi Arabia considers lifting ban on steel exports – Paper

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia is studying a resumption in steel exports to overseas markets, a local gazette cited well-informed sources as saying Wednesday.

The sources told OKAZ newspaper that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) stipulated that steel plants should cover local demand first before exporting their products. They also added that exports would not exceed 25% of total production capacity for each plant.

The total size of steel exports, upon securing the approval on resuming exports, is estimated at 2 million tonnes per annum, according to the sources.
