Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia is looking to generate SAR 56.4 billion in revenues from the fees imposed on expatriates in 2019, compared to SAR 28 billion during 2018, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) said on Wednesday.
The expected value of direct revenues from expats amounts to SAR 7 billion, the MoF added in the 2019 budget statement.
The ministry further indicated that raising fees from expatriates aims to Saudise jobs in the GCC nation.
The Saudi body previously noted that each expatriate would pay SAR 300 in any enterprise where expatriates are equal or less than Saudi personnal, and each expatriate will pay SAR 400 if the number of foreign workers exceeds Saudis.
In July 2017, the oil-rich kingdom started raising monthly fees from expats’ companions with an annual rise of SAR 100, as companions will pay SAR 100 in the first year, and SAR 200, SAR 300, and SAR 400, respectively.
