Saudi Arabia launches $23bn urban projects in Riyadh

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia on Wednesday launched $23 billion four major urban projects, King Salman Park, Sports Boulevard, Green Riyadh, and Riyadh Art, according to Saudi Gazette.

Spanning 13.4 square kilometres, King Salman Park will be the largest city park in the world. Sports Boulevard will provide a network of cycle routes, along with a 135 kilometres cycling track.

Green Riyadh is an initiative to plant 7.5 million trees in Riyadh, while Riyadh Art is a world-class interactive public art programme.  

The projects were launched under the Saudi Vision 2030 ‘Quality of Life’ programme. They will be managed by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, formally known as Riyadh Development Authority.

"Life is changing for the residents of Riyadh. In line with government reforms in education, healthcare, and tourism, we are pushing forward with the diversification and development plans for the city,” spokesperson of Riyadh City’s royal commission commented.
