Saudi Arabia launches 2,600 MW solar power plant in Makkah

Riyadh – Mubasher: Makkah Region Development Authority (MRDA) signed a memorandum of understating (MoU) with the Saudi Ministry of Energy to establish Al-Faisaliah solar power plant with a capacity of 2,600 megawatt (MW).

The project aims to meet the growing demand for electricity and renewable energy with the expected increase in population and pilgrims, the kingdom’s Ministry of Energy tweeted on Sunday.

Saudi Arabia’s Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO) will launch a public tender for developing 600 MW of the overall capacity, while the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and its partners will supervise the development of the remaining 2 GW of the project's capacity.
