Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia has revealed plans to implement 12 renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 1.3 gigawatts this year.
The oil-rich kingdom also aims to raise clean energy’s contribution in its energy mix through generating 60 GWs by 2030, Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported.
The 60-GW capacities will be distributed over 40 GWs from solar energy, while the remaining 20 GWs will be from wind and other sources.
On a related note, the GCC nation is looking to generate 27 GWs by 2020, of which 20 GWs will be from solar energy, while the remaining will be from wind-powered projects.
Saudi Arabia plans to implement more than 35 renewable energy projects by 2030.
