Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia has achieved a SAR 215.8 million ($58 billion) trade surplus during the January-May period of 2018, General Authority for Statistics’ (GASTAT) data showed.
The kingdom’s exports amounted to SAR 426.2 ($114 billion), while imports reached SAR 210.3 billion ($56 billion) in the first five months of this year, GASTAT's figures revealed.
Year-on-year, the oil-rich nation logged a SAR 49.7 billion ($13 billion) surplus in May 2018, up from SAR 16.5 billion ($4.4 billion).
On Monday, GASTAT stated that Saudi Arabia’s merchandise exports jumped 47.4% year-on-year, or SAR 30.22 billion, in May.
The state-run statistics body also stated that merchandise imports decreased by 6.4%, or SAR 3.01 billion, during May.
