Saudi Arabia raises investments in US treasury bonds

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia has increased investments in US treasury bonds by 5.77% year-on-year (YoY) last November, as shown by official data.

Saudi investments in US treasury bonds amounted to $179.7 billion, compared with SAR 169.9 billion in November 2018.

On a monthly basis, November marked the first increase in the Kingdom’s investments in US treasury bonds after two consecutive declines, rising by 0.4% compared with its level in October.

Saudi Arabia ranked 12th among holders of US treasury bonds, while Japan was in the lead with $1.16 trillion, followed by China $1.089 trillion.

However, the Kingdom was the top Arab country investing in US treasury bonds, followed by Kuwait and the UAE with $43 billion and $39.9 billion, respectively.
