Riyadh - Mubasher: Saudi Arabia narrowed its holdings of US Treasury bonds (T-bonds) by 29.05% year-on-year (YoY) in April 2020.
The kingdom's holdings of US government bonds totalled $125.3 billion last April from $176.6 billion in April 2019, according to monthly data released by the US Department of the Treasury.
Month-on-month (MoM), the Saudi T-bonds holdings shrank by 21.2% or $33.8 billion when compared to their value in March 2020 at $159.1 billion.
At the global level, the kingdom came in the 15th place among the largest holders of US debt instruments by the end of last April, down from the 12th place last March.
Among Arab states, Saudi Arabia was the top holder of the US bonds, followed by Kuwait and Iraq with $44.5 billion and $32.5 billion, respectively.
