Saudi Arabia's inflation rises 2.8% YoY in November – GASTAT

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), known as inflation, increased by 2.8% year-on-year during November, the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) reported.

The rise in the kingdom’s inflation was attributed to a hike in ten sections, led by transport section with 12%, followed by tobacco with 10%, and restaurants and hotels segment with 8.6%, the GASTAT added.

On the other hand, clothing and footwear section fell 4.5%, while housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels section decreased 3.1%.

Month-on-month, Saudi CPI inched down 0.2%, to 106.5 points last month, against 106.8 points.

On a monthly basis, housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels section shed 0.8%, while furnishings, household equipment and maintenance section led risers.

The Saudi statistics body further noted that tobacco, health, recreation and culture, education, and miscellaneous goods and services sections remained unchanged in November.
