Saudi Arabia’s trade surplus with Japan reaches SAR 7.7bn in October

Riyadh - Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s trade surplus with Japan increased 62% to JPY 230.155 billion (SAR 7.7 billion) in October 2017 compared to the same period last year, according to the Japanese finance ministry's monthly bulletin released Monday.

Japanese exports to Saudi Arabia jumped 13.2% to JPY 42.8 (SAR 1.4 billion) in October 2017, from JPY 37.8 billion (SAR 1.3 billion) in the prior year period, the report showed.

The ministry added that Japan’s imports from Saudi Arabia rose 51.6% to JPY 273 (SAR 9.1 billion) in October versus JPY 180.1 billion (SAR 6 billion) in the corresponding period last year.

Oil accounts for the biggest share in Saudi exports, as the Japanese government lends crude storage capacity of 6.3 million barrels for free to state-owned Saudi Aramco and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
