Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) has started the exploration and evaluation of uranium and thorium resources in Ha’il region.
On Saturday, SGS’ president Zohair Nawab launched the project in collaboration with King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE) and China National Nuclear Corp (CNNC).
The two-year project will put uranium and thorium to peaceful uses, such as in geological surveys, mineral exploration, electricity generation, and seawater desalination.
Saudi Arabia recently began talks with several countries to establish nuclear-powered reactors to generate electricity.
