Saudi Arabia suspends poultry imports from India

Riyadh – Mubasher:  The Saudi agriculture ministry on Thursday announced that it has suspended imports of live birds, hatching eggs and chicks from India.

The decision comes on the back of the bird flu that was found in India and some Asian countries, the ministry explained.

Early in January, the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) reported an outbreak of bird flu virus near Bengaluru in the southern state of Karnataka, according to Reuters.

The ban was issued in accordance with the OIE's warning, the Saudi ministry mentioned.
