Riyadh – Mubasher: The education ministry on Wednesday announced that it plans to establish 60 schools with a total value of SAR 1 billion, CEO of Tatweer Buildings Company (TBC) Fahad bin Ibrahim Al Hammad said on Wednesday.
This project is one of the oil-rich kingdom's biggest public-private partnership (PPP) projects, as the 60 schools will be built in different areas across the country, Al Hammad added.
The new schools are expected to accommodate around 50,000 students, the top official highlighted, giving no further details on the timeline of the construction work.
The CEO mentioned that TBC and the Saudi private sector will jointly implement this project, in addition to offering new investment opportunities.
Upgrading education process tops Saudi Arabia's development priorities as part of the Saudi Vision 2030, Mohammed Bin Sayyaf, member of the Council of Saudi Chambers, noted.
The world's top oil exporter allocates around 22% of 2018 budget for its education sector.
