Riyadh – Mubasher: New King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah will be officially operated in early 2019, while the test run of the project is scheduled to be specified next May.
The trial operation of the airport will be implemented by Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAUDIA) through launching more than eight flights a day, in addition to using six internal gates, Al Watan newspaper reported, citing sources as saying.
SAUDIA is looking for new operator for the airport, whereas the airport’s management will operate the project during the test run period.
Considering the most important airport in the oil-rich kingdom, the new project will enhance Jeddah’s position as an international hub.
Earlier in March, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) stated that the new King Abdulaziz International Airport will be operated for domestic flights next May.
