Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Arabian Oil Co, known globally as Saudi Aramco, the Royal Commission of Jubail, Sadara Chemical, US-based Halliburton, and Fluor Corporation have commenced the establishment of the first specialty oil field chemicals manufacturing plant in the kingdom.
Halliburton will build the facility, which is expected to be finished by the end of 2020, in the ethylene oxide/propylene oxide (EO/PO) cluster of the PlasChem Value Park at Jubail Industrial City II, according to a statement.
“These types of projects will transform Saudi Arabia from being an importer of specialty products to an exporter,” senior vice president of Upstream in Aramco Mohammed Y. Al Qahtani stated.
Texas-based Flour will implement the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the project, Halliburton is set to manufacture process treatment chemicals in the facility, which will be sold primarily to Aramco to be used in upstream and downstream drilling and extraction operations.
The project is expected to provide around 100 job opportunities, the statement added, providing no further details on its investment.
“The support of partners such as Halliburton, through projects like this, is a clear sign of the commitment that will get us there,” Al Qahtani concluded.
