Saudi Cargo to develop freight terminal in King Abdulaziz Int'l Airport

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Airlines Cargo Company has signed a contract with a number of firms to establish and develop air freight terminal in Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport.

Al Bawani Company will be the main contractor to implement the project, while German engineering conglomerate Siemens will provide the airport with the state-of-the-art equipment and system for cargo handling, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

AECOM Arabia Ltd will be responsible for engineering supervision for the project, Saudi Airlines Cargo Co noted. 

The total area of rebuilding and developing air freight facility in the airport will reach 75,000 square metres, CEO Omar Hariri said.

The project first phase will start in June and it is planned to be completed in November 2019, while the second phase's operations will begin in June 2020 until December 2021, Hariri said. He gave no further details on the value of the project.
