Riyadh – Mubasher: Cement sales of companies operating in Saudi Arabia recorded an increase of 11.53% in July 2017.
Sales rose to 3.49 million tonnes in July 2017, compared to 3.13 million tonnes during the same month of the previous year.
The companies’ gross production grew by 5% year-on-year to 3.37 million tonnes in July 2017 from 3.2 million tonnes, according to a monthly report issued by Yamama Cement Company.
On the other hand, cement inventories decreased marginally by 1.96% to 1.1 million tonnes last month, compared to 1.12 million tonnes in July 2016, according to the report.
Sothern Province Cement topped the sales list with 409,000 tonnes sold inJuly, down 5.32% from 432,000 in the prior year period, while Yamama Cement came in second with a year-on-year sales growth of 17.52% to 369,000 tonnes from 314,000 tonnes.
Meanwhile, Tabuk Cement registered the lowest sales of 61,000 tonnes in July, down 17.6% from 74,000 tonnes in the year-ago period.
In June, cement companies’ sales in the kingdom dropped 40.6% year-on-year to 2.08 million tonnes from 3.5 million tonnes.
