Saudi Cement temporarily stops kiln 6

Riyadh-Mubasher: Saudi Cement Co. said the board, in a meeting held on 4 February, discussed the current market conditions and continuation of export ban, which led to a rise of clinker inventory to high levels.

Accordingly, the board decided to temporarily stop kiln 6 that has a daily production capacity of 3,500 tonnes of clinker until market conditions improve, including lifting of export ban.

Since the kiln's production would have been added during 2016 to inventory, which has already reached around 4 million tonnes, it is not expected that this stoppage would have any impact on the financial results.

The cement producer posted net earnings of SAR 180 million for Q4-15, falling 33% compared with SAR 268 million in the same period a year ago.
