Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Electricity Company’s CEO, Ziad bin Mohammed Al-Shiha, said Tuesday that the company succeeded to operate and link the first steam unit to the electricity grid with a capacity of 660 megawatts, as part of the Jeddah South power plant project.
“The unit is a part of the project’s total capacity amounting to 2,640 megawatts, and, for the first time, works using super critical boilers,” Al-Shiha told the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The CEO noted that the project costs SAR 11.9 billion and includes four steam units with a capacity of 723 megawatts for each unit, in addition to a 380 KV converter station.
By completing the unit, the total capacity of Jeddah South power plant will reach 2,640 megawatts.
