Saudi GACA launches 8 initiatives to develop aviation sector

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) on Monday announced the launch of eight initiatives to boost the aviation and logistics services industries which are part of the kingdom’s National Industrial Development and Logistics Programme (NIDLP).

The state-run authority plans to develop domestic industries in the aviation sector over the coming period in a bid to support the Saudi Vision 2030, according to a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The initiatives will entail establishing and expanding the existing and new airports in an effort to meet the expected rise in passenger traffic, along with achieving the highest levels of safety and raising the capacity of cargo airlines industry.

GACA also will work on nationalising job opportunities in the kingdom’s aviation sector as part of these initiatives.

The Saudi energy minister Khalid Al-Falih stated in January that the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud would launch a SAR 200 billion NIDLP.
