Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) is considering a mechanism for privatising all airports in Saudi Arabia in the coming period, Al Eqtisadiah newspaper reported on Monday.
GACA has already transferred some airports to companies to be privatised.
Discussions about airports’ privatisation are undergoing for each airport separately due to difference in their size, air traffic, assets, human resources, and administration, the GACA added.
GACA’s privatisation decision depends on demand’s volume by airlines, in addition to availability of government agencies to manage an international airport.
In the previous period, the GACA adjusted functions and responsibilities of the airports and projects sectors, in line with privatising airports, in an effort to boost investments and improve services.
