Saudi GDP rises 1.2% in Q1 – GASTAT

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia's gross domestic product (GDP) in constant prices increased 1.15% year-on-year in the first three months of 2018.

The kingdom’s GDP at constant prices amounted to SAR 647.8 billion in Q1-18, compared to SAR 640.4 billion in Q1-17, according to the General Authority for Statistics’ (GASTAT) data showed on Sunday.

The GCC nation's GDP in current prices rose 8.8% to SAR 688.1 billion in the January - March period of 2018, from SAR 632.4 billion in the same period a year earlier, the state-run statistics agency added.

The GDP of oil sector at constant prices inched up 0.62%, registering SAR 273.3 billion the three-month period ended last March, compared to SAR 271.6 billion during the prior-year period.

The Saudi body further indicated that the public sector GDP grew 2.72% to reach SAR 114.7 billion in constant prices during Q1-18, up from SAR 111.7 billion in Q1-17.

The kingdom’s private sector GDP in constant prices recorded SAR 313.8 billion in the first three months of 2018, versus SAR 256.3 billion in the corresponding period in the year before.
