Saudi ICT spending advances 7% in 2015


Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi 2015 spending on information and communications technology (ICT) services increased 7% year-over-year to SAR 120 billion, the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) estimated

Communications segment so has the lion’s share of state spending with 46%, while information technology accounts for 36%, said CITC.

Spending growth is mainly ascribed to the kingdom’s strategy to adopt cost-effective digital transformation plans that will enhance business activities.

Last year, ICT sector added 6% to the Saudi Arabia’s gross domestic product (GDP), or 10% if oil and mining industries were excluded.
