Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Industrial Production Index (IPI) decreased by 3.29% during March 2020 compared to the same month of the previous year.
The decrease in industrial production resulted mainly from lower production in non-oil manufacturing activities, which declined by 11.46%, data by the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GaStat) showed on Sunday.
The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic led a number of factories across the kingdom to reduce output in March.
The mining and quarrying activity decreased by 0.43% on an annual basis, while the electricity and gas supply activity increased by 4.26%.
On a monthly basis, IPI decreased by 36% compared to its reading in February.
