Saudi KAIA 1st expansion phase to end 2018 – Cheng

Riyadh – Mubasher: The first phase of King Abdulaziz International Airport's (KAIA) expansion will be completed in 2018, including a 720,000-square metre modern terminal for passengers, Changi Airports International’s (CAI) spokeswoman Teo Lay Cheng said on Tuesday.

A three-phase expansion project is currently under construction to raise KAIA’s capacity to 80 million passengers annually, Aleqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing Cheng as saying.

CAI’s priority is connecting KAIA with the metro projects and providing electronic services for the passengers, she added.

The new complex of the Saudi airport include large facilities which are integrated with railway and metro transport services, and other works.

KAIA hosts more than 60 domestic and international aviation companies in passenger and goods terminals, and its capacity reached 31 million passengers in 2016.
