Riyadh – Mubasher: The third edition of the Saudi Logistics Conference kicked off on Sunday, 13 October 2019, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh.
Ending on 15 October, the event will host up to 2,000 experts specialised in the supply chain and logistics sector and several investors, according to the conference’s website.
The conference is expected to receive more than 7,000 visitors over three days.
It will discuss a key number of topic including simplifying the concepts of supply chain technology and logistics and the future of logistics in the Kingdom in the digital development, in addition to investment in Saudi logistics projects.
Yasser Abdulaziz Al Misfer, chairman of the Conference Supervisory Committee, pointed out that the conference aims at keeping pace with the continuous modernization in the supply and logistics services industry to contribute to the realization of the objectives of Vision 2030.
On the sidelines of the event, the Saudi Ports Authority signed an agreement with the Saudi Customs to launch the largest integrated logistics zone in the Kingdom, exceeding 2 million square meters in its first phase.
The new zone will contribute to strengthening the Kingdom's strategic position as a hub in the trade exchange movement, especially between the three Continents, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
The Saudi Minister of Transport, Nabeel Mohamed Al-Amudi, announced the opening of a new logistics zone in the Al Khomrah region of Jeddah, one of the busiest and largest ports in the region.
He added that the zone will be opened to private investors.
The new zone will seek to boost the Kingdom’s logistics sector as the country seeks to diversify its economy away from oil.
