Saudi MEWA to launch 20 investment portfolios exceed SAR 2bn

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA) will launch twenty investment portfolios in the coming three months worth more than SAR 2 billion, Aleqtisadiah newspaper on Monday said.

There are 80 locations in the Red Sea to invest in them to raise the production of aquaculture, the newspaper added, citing the MEWA as saying.

MEWA’s undersecretary of directorate of fishery resources Ahmed Al Ayyadah stated that the current investment aquaculture projects on the Red Sea are 17, and the aquaculture projects in inland waters reached 80 farms.

The Saudi current investments in the aquaculture sector reached SAR 6 billion, Al Ayyadah added, concluding that the MEWA aims to raise the production capacity of aquaculture sector to 600,000 tonnes by 2030, from 40,000 tonnes in 2016.
