Riyadh – Mubasher: The value of points of sales (POS) transactions in Saudi Arabia grew by 20.64% year-on-year in May, according to data from the Saudi Arabia Monetary Authority (SAMA).
The kingdom’s POS transactions registered SAR 27.82 billion in the fifth month of 2019, compared to SAR 23 billion in the year-ago period.
The number of transactions through POS surged by 47.7% year-on-year to 126.95 million last month from 85.96 million.
In addition, the number of POS devices grew by 18% to around 382,200 in May from nearly 323,560 in the same month a year earlier.
Month-on-month, POS transactions rose by 15.3 % from SAR 24.13 billion in April.
The number of transactions through POS went up 4.46% in May from 121.5 million in the previous month.
Meanwhile, the number of POS devices increased by 2.3% in May, compared to about 373,600 a month earlier.
In April, POS transactions surged by 24.4% or SAR 4.729 billion year-on-year.
