Saudi SAMA assets fall 8% yoy in November

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority’s (SAMA) data revealed that its total assets tumbled 8.2% year-on-year in November 2017.

SAMA’s assets decreased to SAR 1.911 trillion ($509 billion) in November 2017, from SAR 2.081 trillion ($555 billion) in the same period a year earlier, the Saudi body’s report added.

The drop of assets was attributed to a 10.8% decline in SAMA's investment in overseas securities to total SAR 1.238 trillion.

The Saudi body's investment in foreign securities represented 64.8% of its assets in November.

The SAMA’s deposits at foreign banks levelled down 1.87% to SAR 379.52 billion.

The Saudi body’s deposits at international lenders made up 19.85% of the SAMA assets in November.

The SAMA’s assets edged up 0.47% to SAR 1.902 trillion in November, compared to October.
