Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Japan-based the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) to launch Megaton water desalination project.
The new plant will be operated by reverse osmosis technology, according to SWCC’s statement.
The large-scale project will contribute to the optimal use of energy and protect Saudi Arabia's environment as the reverse osmosis technology saves energy and upgrades the plant’s performance.
In September 2017, Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz approved collaboration between SWCC and NEDO to implement Megaton project.
The Saudi company did not give financial details of the project.
