Saudi Sadara awards pipeline contract to AMEC, Partners Engineering Co

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia-based Sadara Chemical Company has signed an agreement with Amec Foster Wheeler and Partners Engineering Company to implement the design, engineering, material specifications and procurement for two special material pipelines.

The 7-kilometre pipelines will transfer propylene oxide (PO) and ethylene oxide (EO) to PlasChem Park from Sadara plants, the Saudi Gazette reported, adding that the EO/PO pipeline transportation system will be the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

PlasChem Park is a joint venture (JV) between and the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu and Sadara Chemical Company, which is specialised in conversion and chemical industries.

“This is a major milestone for the development of one of the most attractive clusters in PlasChem Park,” Faisal Al-Faqeer, Sadara’s CEO, said.

The pipeline system will consist of a manifold which will contribute to distributing PO and EO to various tenants in PlasChem Park.

After finishing the EO and PO project, the park’s tenants will produce pharmaceutical goods, animal feed, oil, coating and paint applications, mining and water treatment chemicals, detergents, home and personal care products, and construction materials.

The Saudi firm gave no further details on the value of the contract.
